Wednesday Comics 11.19.09-12.09.09

Wow!  Lot’s of stuff going on the last few weeks for me personally but I’ve just gotten a chance to dig into my stack.  Here we go…

120909-1King City #3 by Brandon Graham – $2.99

I have been interested to check out more from Mr.Graham based on this book.  King City’s got lots of word play and imagination.

Empowered: The Wench With A Million Sighs by Adam Warren – $3.99

I pretty much like everything Adam Warren has ever done so when he does his own book based on a character he created after doing a ton of cheesecake sketches at cons I had to pick it up.  (There are actually 5 volumes of this that exist besides this single issue 1-shot.)

120909-2

Spider-Man & The Secret Wars #1 (of 4) by Tobin, Scherberger, Pallot and Anderson – $2.99

The first of a mini-series of deleted scenes/retellings from the original Secret Wars story from the 80′s. Though it is part 1 of 4 this is a pretty self contained story about Spider-Man learning to trust The Hulk who now has Bruce Banner’s mind.  Captain America is also prominently featured.  I know there is a lot of back story with the secret war and all but they explain it pretty quickly and move on to a more character driven plot.  I will likely pick up the rest of the series.

Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #5 by Bendis, Lafuente and Ponsor – $3.99

Peter is rescued from Mysterio by the mysterious “girl pretending to do a boy’s voice in a red hood thingy”.  Meanwhile someone has been secretly squatting at Kitty Pryde’s house and it looks like there is going to be some modern “amazing friends” style action coming soon.

120909-3

The Muppet Show #0 by Robert Langrioge and Sherri Paroline – $2.99

The Muppet Comics have been perhaps the best Muppet thing in the last decade.

Ghostbusters: Past, Present and Future by Rob WIlliams and DIego Jourdan – $3.99

If Scrooge had a proton pack A Christmas Carol would probably have a very different ending…

What have you been reading lately?
